FAQ

What is grass-fed tallow?

Grass-fed tallow is rendered beef fat sourced from pasture raised cows. It's rich in naturally occurring vitamins and fatty acids that closely resemble the skin's natural oils.

Why use tallow in skincare?

Tallow is deeply nourishing and simple. Many people love it for dry, sensitive or easily irritated skin because it contains minimal ingredients and supports the skin barrier.

Where do you source your suet?

Our suet is from two trusted local farms here in VA.

Does Tallow clog pores?

Everyone's skin is different, but many people find that tallow absorbs well without feeling overly greasy. We recommend patch testing if you are acne-prone or highly sensitive.

What is the difference between whipped tallow and regular tallow balm?

Whipped tallow has a lighter, airy texture, while regular tallow balm is denser and more stable in warmer temperatures.

Why can tallow melt in the summer?

Tallow is heat-sensitive because it contains natural oils without synthetic stabilizers. High temperatures may soften or melt the tallow and change the texture specifically of whipped balms, but the quality of the product doesn't change and is still safe to use.

What should I do if my tallow melts?

Place it in a cool area or refrigerate briefIy until it firms back up.

Do you use synthetic fragrance?

No, we use high quality essential oils or botanical infusions. Otherwise our products are left unscented.

What if my order arrives melted?

Tallow can soften during transit especially in the warmest months, however it does not affect the quality. Once in a cool place the tallow will resolidify. Contact us if you have any concerns about your order.
